The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The latest action-packed game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for delighting in action and insanity with the same glee, all while weaving gripping, socially charged narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two creators whose creations have exemplified all of those elements.
Show Details
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game series, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' style by introducing a new backdrop and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady trust and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To create a big action show that can evolve from season to season, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this intricate and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and introduce our common bold, ambitious style to the screen.”
A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
