'The all-time low': Donald Trump lashes out at Time's 'extremely poor' cover picture.
It is a glowing article in a publication that Trump has long exalted – but for one catch. The magazine's cover photo, he stated, "may be the Worst of All Time".
Time's tribute to the president's involvement in brokering a Gaza ceasefire, headlining its early November edition, was presented alongside a image of the president shot from a low angle and with the sun behind his head.
The effect, he says, is "super bad".
"Time wrote a fairly positive story about me, but the picture may be the Worst of All Time", Trump wrote on his social media platform.
“They removed my hair, and then had a shape drifting on top of my head that appeared as a floating crown, but an extremely small one. Quite bizarre! I never liked taking pictures from underneath angles, but this is a terrible picture, and should be criticized. What is their intention, and why?”
Trump has made clear his wish to appear on the cover of Time and did so on four occasions in the previous year. The obsession has reached his golf courses – previously, the magazine asked him to remove mocked up covers on display at some of his properties.
The latest edition’s photo was taken by a photographer for a news agency at the presidential residence on October 5.
The shot's viewpoint highlighted negatively Trump’s chin and neck – a chance that the governor of California Gavin Newsom took advantage of, with the governor's office sharing an altered image with the problematic part obscured.
{The hostages from Israel held in Gaza have been freed under the first phase of Donald Trump's peace plan, in exchange for a Palestinian prisoner release. The arrangement could be a major success of his next term, and it could mark a pivotal moment for the Middle East.
Simultaneously, a defense of the president’s appearance has come from a surprising origin: the spokesperson at the Russian foreign ministry came forward to denounce the "damaging" picture decision.
It's remarkable: a image says more about those who picked it than about the subject. Only disturbed individuals, people driven by hatred and animosity –maybe even degenerates – could have selected such an image", Maria Zakharova shared on the messaging platform.
In light of the positive pictures of President Biden that the periodical displayed on the cover, despite his physical infirmity, the case is self-damaging for Time", she said.
The answer to Trump’s questions – what did the editors intend, and why? – may be something to do with innovatively depicting a sense of power says an imaging expert, a media professional.
The photograph technically is professionally taken," she says. "They picked this image because they wanted Trump to look impressive. Staring up at someone creates an impression of their importance and the president's visage actually looks contemplative and almost a bit ethereal. It's uncommon you see photos of Trump in such a calm instance – the picture feels tender."
His hair appears to “disappear” because the rear illumination has washed out that area of the image, generating a radiant circle, she adds. Even though the story’s headline pairs nicely with his facial expression in the image, "you can’t always please the individual in question."
Few people appreciate being photographed from below, and although all of the artistic aspects of the image are very strong, the visual appeal are unflattering."
The news outlet approached the periodical for a statement.
