The event happened when a cache of impounded blast substances inadvertently exploded during handling procedures.

The blast occurred on Friday night at the Nowgam security post, where blast substances confiscated in Faridabad region in the northern province of Haryana state were being stored temporarily.
Regional police chief declared that the explosives were awaiting forensic examination when a "deeply regrettable" accident during handling caused their detonation at approximately 11:20 PM local.

Law enforcement officials asserted that this was an "inadvertent blast" and rather than a terror incident. "Alternative theories regarding the reason of this event is unnecessary," highlighted the security director during a media conference.

Multiple vehicles were "covered in blaze and turned into burned shells, with debris scattered across the area," according to official reports.
"The intensity of the detonation was so powerful that some body parts were recovered from nearby houses, approximately 100-200 meters distant the law enforcement facility," stated an authority informant.
